Siti Nurhaliza and Rossa: Music can unite Malaysians and Indonesians

JAKARTA: Malaysia's pop queen Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Indonesia's diva Rossa were among popular singers who came together for a concert to spread the message that the Malaysian and Indonesian people can be united through music.
The 'Ekspresi Karya Gemilang' concert took place at the Mata Elang International Stadium in Ancol, here on Monday.
The singers also agreed that the people of both countries should not fall for provocation by certain quarters who were only keen on creating conflict between the two countries.
Siti Nurhaliza said the long-existing ties between the people in Malaysia and Indonesia were too unique to be taken for granted and should only be strengthened.
She said as entertainers, the artistes, including herself, were willing to play a bigger role in uniting the people through music.
"If music can bring the Malaysian and Indonesian singers together, I can't see why it shouldn't do the same for the people in both countries," she said.
Meanwhile, Rossa said the warm relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia should be maintained as it had provided mutual benefit for the two countries.
"Malaysia and Indonesia are like sister and brother. We have to stay united. If there's a conflict, it should be solved in a sensible manner," she said.
Malaysia's rockstar legend, Amy Search, who also performed at the concert, said music was the best platform to maintain and strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia ties.
He said the success of his rock band, Search, in popularising the 'Isabella' song back in the early 1990s, was a proof that music could also bring prosperity to the people in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Other artistes participating in the concert were Shila Amzah from Malaysia, as well as Ungu band, Armada band and Inka Christie from Indonesia.
